吉野山 - A lamp
Saturday 23 September 2006Poking through the trees.
Poking through the trees.
The view from a concrete stairway going up the side of a hill.
The expressway.
A long time ago, before Motoki was born, my husband and I visited Australia.
A stray cat that was wandering the temple grounds.
You purify yourself here, rinsing your hands and mouth.
Virtually on the temple grounds there is also a shrine. It is down this path.
The three tiered pagoda of Jimokuji Kannon is the oldest wooden one in Japan - it was built in 1627, and it is believed that it was simply a reconstruction of a much older one using mostly the same materials.
The main gate to the temple grounds. I assume there was once a wall around, but now only the huge wooden gate stands.
Oh, and that bicycle hiding on the right is mine…
