Hi, I wanted to introduce myself. Thank you for allowing me on this forum! I found it one day looking for help with Japanese pattern books, which I have only just discovered. I have been sewing since I was 10 years old and have a background in art though I've always worked full-time as a business analyst. I make children's clothes, my company is Little Bitsys and I've been dying pre-made clothing blanks and trimming them but am moving toward sewing from scratch. I just completed my first pattern and sewed it using nothing but common sense but it was pretty uncomplicated. I was hoping to learn from others on this forum, you all seem very pattern-making savvy!
Reading about slopers... I'm thinking since I'll be sewing for children, I could use basic measurements for child sizes to create slopers so I have a base to start from for different sizes.
Also, I have a few books on children's clothing that are in Japanese and any help there is appreciated when I get to that. And lastly, I have a husband who is not from the U.S. who doesn't like our clothes, he comes up with an idea in his head of what he wants, goes to the store and can't find it. He also loves linen so I'm thinking I may try to make some clothes for him one of these days. About 15 years ago I made a tweed winter coat, completely tailored, I think I can dig out those skills. OK, that's enough from me. I look forward to chatting with you all later!

Welcome, Mary!
I'm glad to have you join our little group. I noticed that Geek Sewing is one of your favorite blogs--thank you. I should let you know though that I have put that blog on hold for a little while until I catch up with life. I don't know when I'll return to the blogosphere, but in the meantime, you can find me here, posting pictures and sharing my work with Japanese sewing patterns.
I don't have that children's book. If you need help in figuring things out, let us know!
Welcome, new members! And good morning to everyone! (I've had my two cups of coffee already, and I feel great.)
This is also just to let you know that we have a thread already started where new members can introduce themselves.
This is just to remind you to sign in so as not to miss out on comments or questions whispered to you.
Also, members, if you haven't already done so, you might want to change your personal settings and forum preferences in your account.
Add an image to your name! That was a little hard to do for me... the settings cropped off my pincushion avatar. I had to really shrink my image using AppleWorks.
For anyone having difficulty getting Style book or any other Japanese literature I have the following address I bought from; it is in the UK but internet is internet.
