My book of Basic Techniques for making skirts and trousers arrived this morning. The zippers used are curved to follow the shape of the fly extension making sewing easier. Has anyone run into this

Can you post a photo?  I'm having trouble visualizing this.

kayyy, I don't know whether the scanned page is going to be as clear but the zipper seems to have a small kink in the lower third of the zipper making it appear as if it was done on purpose

These are called "Pants Zippers" here, and are sold regularly in sewing shops.

I`ve never actually used one, as I`ve never made pants that use a zipper, but they seem to be pretty standard.

It doesn't look to me like the zipper itself is curved, it's just sewn parallel to the edge of a slightly curved piece.  You could easily do this with steam and careful sewing with a regular (straight) zip.  Not all styles would even have a curve at this point - depends on how tight the style and how low the waist.

Never seen this method before, very interesting. What does it help?

I only use one pants pattern and it is the low rise style. Zipper is very short.

We do have curved pants zippers here...the curve is quite pronounced through the bottom third of the zipper.
